Biography

Sahra Tekin graduated in 2018 from the Department of Psychology at the TOBB ETU, where she studied on a scholarship. In 2020, she completed her master’s degree in clinical psychology with merit at Royal Holloway, University of London. In 2021, she began her PhD in the Department of Psychiatry at University College London (UCL), which she completed in 2024. In 2022, she worked as a visiting researcher for three months at Yale University, School of Public Health, funded by a UCL grant. She remains academically affiliated with the Yale University Trauma & Mental Health Lab and the RISK (Resilience in Survivors of Katrina) Research Group. Between 2021 and 2024, she worked as a research and teaching assistant at UCL, where she continues to maintain academic collaborations with the Department of Psychiatry.

Beyond academia, she has worked in various hospitals in Turkey and at the Southwest London and St George’s Traumatic Stress Clinic in the UK.


Research Interests

Occupational trauma and its extended impact, post-traumatic stress disorder, disaster and trauma psychology, vicarious and secondary trauma, and mental health and wellbeing of high-risk occupational groups (such as military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and healthcare workers) and their families.
